Short structured documentation of a model: intended use, training data summary, evaluations, and limits.
What is Model Card?
A model card is the artefact procurement and compliance teams ask for. It is also useful internally: when routing decides which model handles a step, the card explains why that model is approved for that workload. See Model Evaluation Suite.
What is an example of Model Card?
A card for a multilingual classifier reports supported languages, per-language accuracy, low-resource limitations, test data dates, known demographic gaps, inference requirements, and uses that require human review.
How is Model Card different from related concepts?
A model card documents the model. A system card covers the complete application, including prompts, retrieval, tools, interfaces, users, and operational safeguards.
What should enterprises evaluate for Model Card?
- Ask whether the documented evaluation resembles your users, languages, data, task, and deployment environment.
- Verify provenance, licenses, known limitations, security information, and reproducible version identifiers.
- Create an internal addendum with organization-specific tests and approved-use constraints.
