Gmail Integration
What it does
- Connect Gmail so VDF can help with email communication, automation, and analysis. VDF can access your Gmail messages and provide intelligent email management and communication insights.
Adding the App
- In VDF, go to Integrations → Google → Gmail → Connect.
- Sign in with your Google account and grant access to VDF.
- You'll be redirected back to VDF. Select your email labels and messages.
- Confirm the connection shows "Connected" for your selected content.
Usage
Prerequisites:
- An active VDF account and Google account with Gmail access.
- Recommended: Ensure you have the necessary permissions to authorize Google apps and access your Gmail messages.
After connecting:
- VDF can access your Gmail messages and labels.
- You can analyze email patterns and get communication insights.
- Email management and automation features become available.
Use in VDF (examples):
- Ask in chat: "Find all emails about the project deadline and summarize the key discussions."
- Ask: "Analyze my email patterns and suggest improvements for communication efficiency."
- Ask: "Generate a weekly email summary with important messages and action items."
- Ask: "Help me organize my inbox by creating smart labels for different project categories."
Removing the App
There are two parts: disconnect in VDF and remove access in Google.
-
Disconnect in VDF (stops processing immediately):
- In VDF, go to Integrations → Google → Gmail → Disconnect.
- This removes your active Google authorization from VDF and stops Gmail access.
-
Remove access in Google (Account settings):
- Open your Google account → Security → Third-party access.
- Find "VDF" (or your app name) and select it.
- Click Remove access.
Potential implications of removal:
- VDF will no longer be able to access your Gmail messages.
- Existing VDF artifacts (email summaries, insights) remain available until deleted per your workspace retention settings.
- Any stored authorization tokens are revoked; future Gmail access is blocked.
Tips
- Start with specific labels if you have many Gmail messages to improve performance.
- Use VDF to generate comprehensive email summaries and communication insights.
- You can change your label selection anytime in the Google integration settings.
