Google Calendar Integration

What it does

  • Connect Google Calendar so VDF can help with scheduling, events, and time management. VDF can access your Google Calendar events and provide intelligent scheduling insights and meeting analysis.

Adding the App

  1. In VDF, go to Integrations → Google → Calendar → Connect.
  2. Sign in with your Google account and grant access to VDF.
  3. You'll be redirected back to VDF. Select your calendars and events.
  4. Confirm the connection shows "Connected" for your selected calendars.

Usage

Prerequisites:

  • An active VDF account and Google account with Calendar access.
  • Recommended: Ensure you have the necessary permissions to authorize Google apps and access your calendars.

After connecting:

  • VDF can access your Google Calendar events and schedules.
  • You can analyze meeting patterns and get scheduling insights.
  • Time management and calendar organization features become available.

Use in VDF (examples):

  1. Ask in chat: "Show me my schedule for next week and identify any conflicts or gaps."
  2. Ask: "Analyze my meeting patterns and suggest improvements for time management."
  3. Ask: "Find all meetings related to the project and create a summary of upcoming events."
  4. Ask: "Generate a weekly schedule report with key meetings and deadlines."

Removing the App

There are two parts: disconnect in VDF and remove access in Google.

  • Disconnect in VDF (stops processing immediately):

    1. In VDF, go to Integrations → Google → Calendar → Disconnect.
    2. This removes your active Google authorization from VDF and stops Calendar access.
  • Remove access in Google (Account settings):

    1. Open your Google account → Security → Third-party access.
    2. Find "VDF" (or your app name) and select it.
    3. Click Remove access.

Potential implications of removal:

  • VDF will no longer be able to access your Google Calendar events.
  • Existing VDF artifacts (schedule summaries, insights) remain available until deleted per your workspace retention settings.
  • Any stored authorization tokens are revoked; future Google Calendar access is blocked.

Tips

  • Start with specific calendars if you have many Google Calendar accounts to improve performance.
  • Use VDF to generate comprehensive schedule summaries and time management insights.
  • You can change your calendar selection anytime in the Google integration settings.
