Google Drive Integration

What it does

  • Connect Google Drive so VDF can help with file storage, sharing, and collaboration. VDF can access your Google Drive files and provide intelligent search, organization, and content analysis.

Adding the App

  1. In VDF, go to Integrations → Google → Drive → Connect.
  2. Sign in with your Google account and grant access to VDF.
  3. You'll be redirected back to VDF. Select your folders and files.
  4. Confirm the connection shows "Connected" for your selected content.

Usage

Prerequisites:

  • An active VDF account and Google account with Drive access.
  • Recommended: Ensure you have the necessary permissions to authorize Google apps and access your Drive files.

After connecting:

  • VDF can access your Google Drive files and folders.
  • You can search and analyze content across your Drive.
  • File organization and collaboration features become available.

Use in VDF (examples):

  1. Ask in chat: "Find all PDF documents in my Google Drive from last month and summarize the key points."
  2. Ask: "Help me organize my Drive files by creating a logical folder structure for this project."
  3. Ask: "Analyze my team's shared documents and suggest improvements for organization."
  4. Ask: "Generate a content summary of all project files in my Drive."

Removing the App

There are two parts: disconnect in VDF and remove access in Google.

  • Disconnect in VDF (stops processing immediately):

    1. In VDF, go to Integrations → Google → Drive → Disconnect.
    2. This removes your active Google authorization from VDF and stops Drive access.
  • Remove access in Google (Account settings):

    1. Open your Google account → Security → Third-party access.
    2. Find "VDF" (or your app name) and select it.
    3. Click Remove access.

Potential implications of removal:

  • VDF will no longer be able to access your Google Drive files.
  • Existing VDF artifacts (file summaries, insights) remain available until deleted per your workspace retention settings.
  • Any stored authorization tokens are revoked; future Google Drive access is blocked.

Tips

  • Start with specific folders if you have a large Google Drive to improve performance.
  • Use VDF to generate comprehensive file summaries and organization insights.
  • You can change your folder selection anytime in the Google integration settings.
