SharePoint Online Integration

What it does

  • Connect SharePoint Online so VDF can help with document management and team sites. VDF can access your SharePoint sites and provide intelligent document analysis, collaboration insights, and content organization.

Adding the App

  1. In VDF, go to Integrations → Microsoft → SharePoint → Connect.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account and grant access to VDF.
  3. You'll be redirected back to VDF. Select your SharePoint sites and libraries.
  4. Confirm the connection shows "Connected" for your selected sites.

Usage

Prerequisites:

  • An active VDF account and Microsoft account with SharePoint access.
  • Recommended: Ensure you have the necessary permissions to authorize Microsoft apps and access your SharePoint sites.

After connecting:

  • VDF can access your SharePoint sites and document libraries.
  • You can analyze document content and get collaboration insights.
  • Document management and team site organization features become available.

Use in VDF (examples):

  1. Ask in chat: "Find all documents in SharePoint about the project timeline and summarize the key points."
  2. Ask: "Help me organize my SharePoint site by creating a logical document structure."
  3. Ask: "Analyze team collaboration patterns in SharePoint and suggest improvements."
  4. Ask: "Generate a content summary of all project documents in my SharePoint site."

Removing the App

There are two parts: disconnect in VDF and remove access in Microsoft.

  • Disconnect in VDF (stops processing immediately):

    1. In VDF, go to Integrations → Microsoft → SharePoint → Disconnect.
    2. This removes your active Microsoft authorization from VDF and stops SharePoint access.
  • Remove access in Microsoft (Account settings):

    1. Open your Microsoft account → Security → App permissions.
    2. Find "VDF" (or your app name) and select it.
    3. Click Remove access.

Potential implications of removal:

  • VDF will no longer be able to access your SharePoint sites.
  • Existing VDF artifacts (document summaries, insights) remain available until deleted per your workspace retention settings.
  • Any stored authorization tokens are revoked; future SharePoint access is blocked.

Tips

  • Start with specific sites if you have many SharePoint sites to improve performance.
  • Use VDF to generate comprehensive document summaries and collaboration insights.
  • You can change your site selection anytime in the Microsoft integration settings.
